Privacy Policy
Last updated October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy for DegreeFindr ("we," "us," or "our"), a service of Findr Digital LLC, describes how and why we might collect, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our website at https://degreefindr.com or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Policy (the "Services"). Reading it will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Services. Questions or concerns? Contact us.
Summary of key points
- What we collect. The information you type into our form (name, email, phone number, and address) and your answers about your education goals, plus device and usage data collected automatically.
- We keep what you submit. We store your entries and answers, together with a record of the consent you gave, so we can match you with schools, honor your choices, and show what you agreed to. You can have it deleted at any time on our Unsubscribe / Delete My Information page.
- We are not a school. DegreeFindr is a free school-matching service. The schools shown are paid advertisers.
- Sharing. To find schools for you, we share your information with our education partners. A school receives your information and contacts you only if you agree to that school's own consent. The advertising partner that referred you learns that a submission happened, never what you entered.
- Your choices. Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information at Your Privacy Choices. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.
1. What information do we collect?
Information you provide to us
When you use our form you provide: first and last name; email address; phone number; street address, city, state, and ZIP code; the subjects you would like to study; your highest level of education and the year you finished high school or earned a GED; when and how (online or on campus) you would like to start; and whether you are affiliated with the U.S. military. A school you choose may ask a few questions of its own (for example your age, program of interest, or citizenship). All information you provide must be true, complete, accurate, and your own.
Information automatically collected
When you visit the Services we automatically collect device and usage information: IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, actions taken, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We also receive the attribution identifiers that the advertising partner who referred you attaches to the link you clicked. Our form uses a lead-verification service (Jornaya LeadiD) that records how the form was completed, so the schools can confirm a real person submitted it and agreed to be contacted. When a school you are shown requires it, a consent-certification service (TrustedForm) also records your interaction with that school's request form, including the consent you give it, and issues a certificate the school can review.
2. How do we process your information?
- To find schools and programs you may qualify for, near you or online, and to display them to you.
- To send your request to each school you choose, with the consent you gave that school, so it can contact you about its programs.
- To contact you about your request where you have consented.
- To measure and improve the Services, our advertising, and your experience, and to identify usage trends.
- For security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.
3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
Education partners and schools
When you submit our form, we share your contact details and answers with our education partners — companies that represent schools and match students with them — so they can find schools whose programs are available to you. We then show you those schools. A school receives your information to contact you only when you agree to that school's own consent, shown next to its name, and request information from it; it may then contact you as that consent describes. The schools on our Services are career, technical, and degree-granting colleges and universities offering programs on campus and online. Each recipient's own privacy policy governs what they do with your information.
Service providers
We use third-party vendors who perform services for us and only on our instructions: website hosting, security and storage (Cloudflare), product analytics (PostHog), lead verification and consent certification (Jornaya and TrustedForm), street-address suggestions as you type your address (Google Maps Platform — what you type in the address field is sent to Google to suggest matching addresses), and the database that holds your submission and our attribution records. They may not use your information for their own purposes except as required to provide their service.
Other situations
We may share information in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business; with our affiliates, who must honor this Privacy Policy; and where required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights and safety.
4. What is our stance on third-party websites?
The Services link to third-party websites (such as the schools' own policies). We are not responsible for the safety, content, or privacy practices of any third party. Information collected by a third party is governed by their policies, not this one.
5. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
We use first-party storage in your browser to remember your form entries and answers between steps and your privacy choices, and first-party cookies carrying the attribution identifiers of the referral that brought you here. We use PostHog for product analytics; it does not record the personal information you type. Our lead-verification and consent-certification services run scripts on our form as described above. We do not use third-party advertising pixels on the Services.
6. How long do we keep your information?
We keep the information you submit for as long as needed to match you with schools and to honor the consent you gave, and then as required by law. Our record of your consent (the disclosure you saw and your agreement to it) is retained for the period the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and similar laws require us to be able to demonstrate it, even after your other information is deleted. You can ask us to delete your submission at any time on our Unsubscribe / Delete My Information page. Your browser also keeps a copy of your entries until you clear it. Information you send us through our contact form is kept as long as needed to respond and as required by law.
7. How do we keep your information safe?
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) transmission. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Do we collect information from minors?
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact us and we will delete it.
9. What are your privacy rights?
Depending on your state of residence you may have the right to know whether we process your personal data, to access it, to correct inaccuracies, to request deletion, to obtain a copy, to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal data, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any right, use our contact form (choose "Privacy request" or "Delete my information"). We will verify your identity using the information you provide and respond within the time required by law. You may designate an authorized agent; we may require proof of their authority.
Opting out of contact. To stop hearing from us and to have your submission deleted, use our Unsubscribe / Delete My Information page. To stop hearing from a school, reply STOP to its texts, use the unsubscribe link in its emails, or ask to be removed during any call; you can also contact us and we will relay your request.
10. Global Privacy Control and Do-Not-Track
We recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. When your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and do not send your information to education partners or schools, with no further action required — which means we cannot match you with schools during that visit. Your explicit choice on Your Privacy Choices takes precedence over the browser signal. Because there is no industry standard for Do-Not-Track (DNT) signals, we do not respond to DNT at this time.
11. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?
Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights described in section 9. In the preceding twelve months we have collected, and disclosed for a business or commercial purpose, the following categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples | Collected |
|---|---|---|
| A. Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number, postal address, IP address, online identifiers | Yes |
| B. Personal information (Cal. Customer Records) | Name, contact information, education | Yes |
| C. Protected classification characteristics | Age, military or veteran status, citizenship (when a school asks) | Yes |
| F. Internet or network activity | Pages viewed, interactions with the Services and our form | Yes |
| G. Geolocation data | Address, ZIP code, approximate location from IP address | Yes |
| J. Education information | Highest level of education, graduation year, subjects of interest | Yes |
| K. Inferences | Schools and programs you may qualify for | Yes |
Sharing your information with education partners and the schools you choose may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under some state laws. You may opt out at Your Privacy Choices. California residents may request, once per year, information about personal information disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes ("Shine the Light") by contacting us.
12. Calls and text messages
A school may call or text you, including through automated technology, only if you check the box agreeing to that school's own consent shown next to its name. That consent is not a condition of enrolling or of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out of texts from any sender.
13. Do we make updates to this policy?
Yes. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the updated version is indicated by the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be announced with a notice on the Services.
14. How can you contact us about this policy?
Use our contact form.
15. How can you review, update, or delete the data we collect from you?
Based on the laws of your state you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to withdraw consent. Deletion is self-service on our Unsubscribe / Delete My Information page; for access, correction, or a copy of your information, submit a request through our contact form. Where your information was sent to a school you selected, we will tell you which schools received it so you can also contact them directly.
